The Buffalo Sabres have lost again, the third 5-2 loss to the New York Islanders in a row and the team's fifth straight defeat. However, if there's one bright spot on what is an absolute mess of a season, it's that Jeff Skinner scored today, his first goal of the season and just his second point.

That's obviously not very good for a guy making $9 million per season, but at least it could be the beginning of getting his game back on track. Maybe, who knows. But it must have felt pretty good for him as he hadn't scored an NHL goal in over a year, with his last one coming on February 29th of 2020. Skinner would pull the Sabres within two goals of the Islanders in the third with the effort, but it clearly wasn't enough. You can view the goal below. It's actually a pretty nice backhander, something Skinner should easily be capable of anyway.

You have to wonder how much longer Buffalo head coach Ralph Krueger is going to last with the Sabres falling further in the standings with each game. In fact, it's pretty stunning that he hasn't been shown the door already.
