According to The Athletic's Michael Russo, the Minnesota Wild will be scratching forward Zach Parise for tonight's game against the Vegas Golden Knights. Parise is not injured.

While the exact reasoning for the scratch is unknown, it is worth noting that Parise took a lengthy 1:33 minute shift late in Monday's game versus the Golden Knights in the third period. The Golden Knights tied the game on that shift and went on to win 5-4 in overtime. On top of that, the 36-year-old has also struggled at times this season, registering just three goals and nine points through 19 games.

This is a situation worth monitoring, given the fact Parise still has four more seasons remaining after this year with a cap hit of $7.538 million. The 1034 NHL game veteran is in his ninth season with the Wild after signing a lucrative 13-year, $98 million deal as a free agent prior to the 2012-13 season. Prior to joining Minnesota, he spent seven seasons with the New Jersey Devils.
