A shocking update emerged regarding Washington Capitals' Tom Wilson and his six-game suspension for a high stick on Noah Gregor in a game against the Maple Leafs.

Last week, the NHL announced that Wilson would serve a six-game suspension for a dirty high stick on a Maple Leafs' opponent. A surprising development was just announced regarding the suspension.

Wilson declines to appeal the Department of Player Safety's decision to suspend him for six games.

Wilson and the NHLPA have officially decided not to file an appeal for the NHL's decision to give him a six-game suspension.
From Greg Wyshynski:

"NEWS: Tom Wilson of @Capitals and the NHLPA have declined to file an appeal of his 6-game suspension for high-sticking, a source tells ESPN."

This decision surprised many people. A lot expected Wilson to appeal his suspension, because six games is a lot, even for a repeat offender such as him. Also, Wilson will need to forfeit $161,458.32 in salary.

It was expected that Wilson, who often fights and plays dirty, would've fought the NHL's decision too.

However, considering how it went the last time a player filed an appeal for a suspension, Wilson probably made the right choice.

It all happened last Wednesday, in a game between the Capitals and the Maple Leafs. Tom Wilson tried to stop Gregor from reaching the puck after a hit and struck him violently in the face with his stick.

Wilson, one of the most controversial players in the NHL, is known for his aggression. He plays a tough game, and we just saw it again.

Let's hope that he'll learn this time. As the Capitals continue their impressive streak in their final push before the playoffs, they'll need all the help they can get. Wilson is a big part of the team's top six, and it's clear that his teammates will miss him for the next six games.
