If you ever want to know how people feel about your opinion, one sure way to find out is to post it on social media. Amy Jones, who is the mother of NHL defencemen Seth (Columbus Blue Jackets) and Caleb (Edmonton Oilers) Jones, is getting tons of feedback after posting a Tweet supporting the 100 percent reopening of Texas amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Texas governor Greg Abbott announced Wednesday that he was opening back up everything in the State, as well as ending the statewide mask mandate. This, of course, is a loaded issue regardless of which side of the debate you fall on. As for Amy Jones, she is clearly supportive of the Governor's decision, posting a Tweet thanking him. It also included the hashtag #BurnTheMasks, as well as a photo of her meal from the restaurant she was dining at.

The feedback was swift. Some were supportive, saying they couldn't wait for a similar decree to happen in their states or provinces. Others were not so nice.

It is interesting that her sons would be brought into the debate. Both Caleb and Seth have retweeted political figures such as Donald Trump Jr. and Rudy Giuliani, who both seem to believe that COVID-19 is being used as a political ploy to undermine the interests of citizens. The Jones brothers also appear to be extremely close with their mother, who takes great pride in them, being their mother, and being a hockey mom.

Their mother did feel the need to explain one of her responses to a negative comment. In response to a follower who told her "congrats on not being able to come visit Caleb in Canada for another year", Jones said "good thing he won't be there that long." Apparently, some people took this to mean that Caleb would be leaving the Oilers before the season ended. Amy explained that she was simply making the point that her son doesn't live in Canada year-round and will be returning to Texas in the summer.
