It looks like no NHL team is willing to make any kind of trade for New York Rangers castoff Tony DeAngelo. On TSN's Insider Trading Tuesday night, Frank Seravalli reported there are no takers for the defenceman and his next move will likely be with a team in the American Hockey League (AHL).

That said, DeAngelo won't be reporting to the Hartford Wolf Pack, which serves as the Rangers' AHL afiliate. According to Seravalli, he is "not welcome" and an agreement will likely have to be reached to loan him to another team. This is where another potential issue comes in.

If no NHL team is willing to take on DeAngelo's baggage, I'm not certain there's one in the AHL that is. Sure, pretty much every team could use DeAngelo's offensive skills, if he's bringing it like he did last season. The big question is whether they want him in their locker room and/or whether they want to deal with the negative response if they decide to do so.

For the Rangers, telling DeAngelo to go home was a purely professional decision and had nothing to do with whatever he was saying, doing or participating in during his free time. DeAngelo has a long history of ill-advised penalties, subsequent suspensions and not being the best teammate with every team he's ever played for. That includes his time in juniors. His dust-up with goalie Alex Georgiev after being unable to come to terms with being a healthy scratch was simply the last straw for NYR. It's honestly not that surprising that no teams in the NHL are willing to welcome him. Many have speculated that he'll end up in the KHL playing for a Russian team after this season ends. That seems like a safer bet with each passing week.
