The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Tuesday evening that Edmonton Oilers forward Alex Chiasson has been suspended one game for his cross-check to the neck of Maple Leafs forward Jimmy Vesey. The incident occurred at the end of the third period of Monday night's 3-0 victory for Toronto, who shutout Edmonton for a second consecutive game. Despite the game being over, Chiasson was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for cross-checking.

The NHL's DOPS determined that because Chiasson has no suspension history, giving him a one game suspension was the right call.

The 30-year old has 7 points (4 G, 3 A), 17 penalty minutes, and is a -2 in 17 games this season. He will miss Wednesday night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs and will be eligible to return on Saturday when the Oilers travel to Calgary to take on the Flames.
