The Montreal Canadiens will turn to Jake Allen on Saturday night to try and stop the team's recent losing streak after a poor showing against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday.
Habs head coach Dominique Ducharme said that Carey Price will continue to work closely with goaltending coach Stephane Waite in the next few days.
"We have a lot of games, so he's going to be playing a lot," Ducharme said about Price on Friday.
Allen, 30, is having a great start to the season in Montreal. He has four wins, two losses, one overtime/shootout loss, a 2.14 G.A.A., and a .932 save percentage in seven games.
Ducharme also announced that forward Josh Anderson is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Anderson was slew foot by Jets defenceman Dylan DeMelo in the first period on Thursday night, left the game, and did not return.
With Anderson not at practice on Friday, forward Michael Frolik stepped into the fourth line, as the Canadiens made a few adjustments from Thursday night's loss. It appears Corey Perry may be a healthy scratch on Saturday, and that Frolik will make his Canadiens debut.
Montreal will battle Winnipeg on Saturday with puck drop set for 10pm ET.
Just to be clear--Price could be back in as soon as Monday. Ducharme said, "We have a lot of games, so he's going to be playing a lot." Allen tomorrow. Price worked with Waite today, and will probably do the same tomorrow and Sunday.— Eric Engels (@EricEngels) February 26, 2021
