After being a healthy scratch for the last three games, Buffalo Sabres forward Jeff Skinner was asked by Mike Harrington of Buffalo Sports News if he wanted to play for a different team or a different head coach.
"No. I love being a Sabre, I love the City of Buffalo. I mean, I wouldn't have chosen to stay here if that wasn't the case. So, yeah, that answer is simple, No." Skinner said.
However, it appears Skinner does not agree that he should be sitting after being a healthy scratch for three straight games.
"I don't think you learn anything extra by not being out there, but, obviously, this situation is maybe not that straightforward in the fact that 'lessons being learned' is maybe more of a vague concept," Skinner said
John Wawrow of the Associated Press then asked Skinner if he sees eye-to-eye with Sabres head coach Ralph Krueger.
Skinner started off his response with a laugh then proceeded to say: "That's seems like we're not getting down to specifics and we're keeping it vague. So I mean, I don't know, I mean..listen, he has 23 other guys to worry about. He has a team to coach and I just have to play hockey, I just..like that's all I want to do is play hockey, help my teammates, try and win the game, and that's as simple as it is. I mean it's not, to me it's not relevant really. Whether we agree on everything in our lives, like everything about hockey, it's like I think, just human nature, no one agrees on anything, and everyone is different. Everyone sees the game, sees life through their own lens and makes their own judgements, and makes their own decisions. At the end of the day, it's about winning hockey games, and just trying to be apart of that."
Skinner, 28, has 1 point (1 A), 6 penalty minutes, and is a -2 in 14 games this season. He's in the second of an eight-year, $72 million contract ($9 million AAV), and is not playing anywhere near the level he has in the past several years.
