The San Jose Sharks will be returning to practice Friday after the COVID-19 concerns they were put up against earlier this week. The team is scheduled to host the St. Louis Blues on Saturday following the stoppage in action caused by the NHL's COVID-19 protocols.
The Sharks' recent game against the Vegas Golden Knights was postponed on Thursday after center Tomas Hertl entered the COVID-19 protocol.
"As of Thursday afternoon, no additional tests have come back as confirmed positives," the Sharks said in a statement. "If the team and staff continue to receive negative results, the NHL and the [NHL Players' Association] have approved the team's resumption of practice on Friday. In such event, Saturday's game against the St. Louis Blues will move forward as scheduled."
The Sharks currently sit 7th in the West Division with 16 points (7-8-2) in 17 games. They will surely be hoping to get back on track this time around, with key players needing to perform better including former standout Erik Karlsson.
So far, the NHL has postponed 41 games already this season, 37 of which were COVID-19 protocol related. The other four games were postponed because of weather related issues.
