Despite a solid tenure with the Los Angeles Kings, Cal Petersen has struggled to find his best form in the NHL, and now, his struggles have reached a new low in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Flyers place Cal Petersen on waivers

After appearing in just five games this season, the Philadelphia Flyers have officially placed $5 million goaltender Cal Petersen on waivers.

In those five games, Petersen has allowed a 3.90 GAA with an .864 save percentage, and with the team finding ways to win despite sub-par goaltending, this is likely the best move for an organization looking to make a shock run at the playoffs in 2023-24.

With Carter Hart also done, this team is relying on 24-year old Samuel Ersson, and with no proven backup on the roster, it will be interesting to see how they handle the goaltending spot going forward.
