Hockey is a brutal sport, but the players are also only human and have to face turmoil in their own lives off the ice. One player is dealing with this now, as the Toronto Maple Leafs Organization just released heartbreaking news.

Earlier today, the Maple Leafs shared in a post on X that one of their defensemen, Mark Giordano, lost his father Paul. No details regarding the cause of this have been released.

Many fans and teams have publicly expressed their condolences to the player and his family, including the Calgary Flames.

Some people, alternatively, have taken the opportunity to make insensitive comments. These are thankfully being attacked, as this sort of treatment is never excusable.

Whether or not he takes time off, everyone here is joining all the players, teams, and fans in offering our condolences and best wishes to Mark and the entire Giordano family through these difficult times.
