Department of Player Safety makes decision on Mark Stone's questionable hit on Tyler Bozak

The Department of Player Safety has reportedly made its decision on Mark Stone's questionable hit on St. Louis Blues forward Tyler Bozak. Stone will not face any further discipline for the hit that some people have described as a dirty play, unnecessary, and not very smart.

Stone was assessed a two-minute interference penalty for the collision that occurred near the center of the ice. After the penalty ended, Stone dropped the mitts with St. Louis Blues defenseman Justin Faulk, nothing eventful really came from the fight, but St. Louis had sent their response.

"We got into kind of a battle in the corner and his elbow came up on me. Then we just jostled coming up the ice and I slammed on the brakes to get in his way. I didn't expect to fight afterwards. He came after me and we fought," Mark Stone said regarding the situation after the game.

The hit may have been unnecessary, but it doesn't look severe enough for any further discipline. Blues fans will surely be upset, but most NHL fans can agree that when two physical teams come together, fireworks will go off.

Meanwhile, St. Louis GM Doug Armstrong said he contacted the league to find out why players who had thrown "questionable" hits resulting in both Bozak and Bortuzzo injuries(who will both miss time) would receive no discipline. He received this response:

"Player Safety feel that these type of plays should be handled by the officials on the ice."

«As a organization we will respect that standard and will play within the guidelines that have been set by the league.» said Armstrong

The Blues and Golden Knights will face-off again on Thursday night in what will surely be a highly dramatic game.
