The Anaheim Ducks were dealt a massive blow to their blueline as it was announced Josh Manson would miss at least six weeks with an oblique muscle injury. The team announced that the injury was suffered during Monday night's win over the Minnesota Wild. Manson has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to January 18th.
Manson, 29, was drafted in the 6th round, 160th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. In 388 regular season games, he's put up 97 points (21 G, 76 A), 350 penalty minutes, and is a +40. In 22 career playoff games, he has 3 points (3 A), 20 penalty minutes, and is a -3.
With Manson's absence there's a possibility 2020 1st round pick Jamie Drysdale could be called up from San Diego. Drysdale is coming off a silver medal performance with Canada at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships. In 7 games, he had 2 points (2 A), 0 penalty minutes, and was a +11.
Drysdale had a strong showing in San Diego's first pre-season game on January 19th against the San Jose Barracuda. He played well on both sides of the puck, and his certainly didn't lack confidence, making multiple end-to-end rushes.
