After being in quarantine, and facing immigration issues, Kasperi Kapanen will make Penguins debut on Tuesday night against the Washington Capitals.

The Kuopio, Finland native was acquired by the Penguins in August 2020 from the Toronto Maple Leafs, five years and one month after the Penguins originally dealt him to Toronto in the Phil Kessel trade.

In 69 regular season games during the 2019-20 season, Kapanen recorded 36 points (13 G, 23 A), 22 penalty minutes, and was a +/-0. In 5 playoff games, he had 2 points (2 A), 14 penalty minutes, and was a -2.

In 202 career regular season games, he's tallied 90 points (41 G, 49 A), 55 penalty minutes, and is a +6. In 25 career playoff games, he has 7 points (4 G, 3 A), 16 penalty minutes, and is a -8.

In other season debut news, the Florida Panthers have activated goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky who will get his first start in net tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks. Bobrovsky was deemed unfit to play in their season opener on Sunday night, but has been cleared for Tuesday's game.

"He had a great summer, offseason, came into camp ready to go, just got slowed down a little bit there at the start," Florida head coach Joel Quenneville said Tuesday, according to team reporter Jameson Olive. "I think he's come back and looks as sharp as he did going into it. He's more than ready."

"We're very excited to see him," Florida forward Noel Acciari said, according to Olive. "He's been working very hard this offseason. We've been skating with him for months now. Seeing all the hard work he's put in, I know he's ready, and we're excited to have him and have our brick wall back there."

Bobrovsky, 32, had a bit of a rough season during the 2019-20 season compared to his past. He signed a massive 7 year, $70 million contract ($10 million AAV) in July 2019. In 50 games, he had 23 wins, 19 losses, 6 overtime/shootout losses, a 3.23 G.A.A., a .900 save percentage and 1 shutout.
