Nearly one month ago, former Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist announced that he would miss the entire 2020-21 season after revealing that he had a heart condition. The surgery was to have an aortic valve replacement, aortic root and ascending aortic replacement. Last week he underwent surgery, and nine days later Lundqvist announced on Twitter and Instagram that he would be leaving the hospital.

"Left the hospital yesterday. I've spend a lot of days away from my kids over the last 5-8 years because of hockey. The last 9 days felt way different. It literally warmed my heart pulling up to the driveway", Lundqvist said.

He went on to add that he will remain in Cleveland for a little bit for more testing, before heading back to The Big Apple to continue his recovery and rehab there.

Lundqvist, 38, was drafted in the seventh round, 205th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. After 15 seasons with the Rangers, he was set to join the Washington Capitals for the 2020-21 season before being sidelined with the heart condition.

In 887 regular season games, Lundqvist has 459 wins, 310 losses, 96 overtime/shootout losses, a 2.43 G.A.A., a .918 save percentage, and 64 shutouts. In 130 career playoff games, he has a record of 61 wins, 67 losses, a 2.30 G.A.A., a .921 save percentage, and 10 shutouts.

Following the 2011-12 season, Lundqvist was awarded the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender. During that year he had 39 wins, 18 losses, 5 overtime/shootout losses, a 1.97 G.A.A., a 9.30 save percentage, and 8 shutouts.

Internationally, Lundqvist has represented Sweden on multiple occasions, most recently at the 2019 IIHF World Hockey Championships.
