BREAKING: William Nylander Makes Maple Leafs History With New Contract
Darren Dreger, during this morning's episode of First Up on TSN 1050, shared major details about William Nylander's contract with the Maple Leafs.
Dreger Releases Final Details of Nylander's Deal in Toronto
Dreger basically confirmed Nylander's signature and added interesting details:
Darren Dreger confirmed that the signature is imminent:
"Look, it's imminent, right? Whether it's today or tomorrow, that will be determined by Brad Treliving and Lewis Gross as they tidy up the final details... the heavy lifting is complete and I maintain that the AAV is going to be north of $11M and I'd be surprised if it's not $11.5M"
Dreger didn't want to share false numbers, so he said the Leafs' would go higher than $11M.
He also noted that Nylander's eight-year deal would give the Leafs' Nylander's best years.
"Toronto is literally getting William Nylander in his prime. They're paying for it - at $11.5M, it's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. But they're getting his best years in this deal." - Dreger on Nylander
Later, he shared further informations:
"See how the rest of the morning evolves, but as speculated the Maple Leafs are closing in on what is believed to be an 8 year, $92 million extension for William Nylander. Still a bit of work getting done."
Chris Johnston added more details:
"This will be the largest contract in #leafs history by total value. Expect it to include a full no-movement clause and favourable bonus structuring."
