Two forwards with the Edmonton Oilers will likely not be available for the start of the season, and it appears they won't be returning any time soon. That's according to Edmonton head coach Dave Tippet.
"Tippett says [James] Neal is skating; [Gaetan] Haas isn't. 'I don't anticipate either one back anytime soon'," said radio host Reid Wilkins on Twitter.
Teams are not allowed to say exactly why players aren't participating in training camps. Individual injuries will not be announced until the start of the regular season.
Haas, a centre, played 58 games with the Oilers last season, scoring five goals and five assists. Neal, a winger, managed 19 goals and 31 points in 55 games. Neal struggled with an ankle injury last season. It isn't know if this is what's causing him to miss time right now.
