Shocking Turn for Corey Perry: The Blackhawks May Be Facing a Lawsuit for Wrongful Termination

In a shocking turn of events for the Corey Perry Saga, the Chicago Blackhawks may be facing a lawsuit for wrongful termination of his contract.

There haven't been many details released regarding the Corey Perry saga since both his and the Blackhawks' public statements on his termination. After, many wondered whether Perry would file a grievance over the lost 1-year contract worth $4 million. With the situation being kept under wraps, there was speculation that he would walk away to keep the details from being revealed.

However, Elliotte Friedman has revealed that it may not matter whether or not Perry wants to file a grievance, as the Union is pushing to file a grievance in order to prevent the situation from becoming precedent.

Its likely neither Perry nor the Blackhawks want to go down this road, as both parties have done their best to keep the details of the incident under wraps. However, obviously the Players Union feels there was some injustice done in the termination, and doesn't want whatever happened to become commonplace for termination across the league.

It's hard to imagine a grievance being filed without Perry involved, however, we will have to see how this plays out as the deadline for filing approaches after the holidays.
