This NHL insider has just revealed the Edmonton Oilers' future plan for Jack Campbell, and it isn't looking good for Oilers fans.
Spector Reveals That the Oilers Are Forced to Eat Campbell's Contract While he Plays in the Minors
Oilers fans have had a moment of relief as their team slowly works their way out of the basement of the Western Conference. However, there is are still issues lingering around the Oilers roster, and one of those is Jack Campbell.
Campbell has continued to play in the AHL despite rumours of the Oilers looking to call him up. His lacklustre performances with Bakersfield have the Oilers in a tricky position. Now, Mark Spector has revealed that the Oilers are ready to count their losses when it comes to Campbell.
"This signing's been a disaster. Just a disaster. And you are getting out of it."

Campbell's 3.22 goals against average and .894 save percentage in the AHL is the issue, and the Oilers do not have faith that he can return to NHL calibre play with those stats in the AHL.
Campbell's Contract Causing Issues For Strapped Oilers
The Oilers still need to bolster their roster by finding another goaltender and would probably like to add to their blueline as well. However, moving an AHL calibre goaltender who is being paid $5 million per year is proving to be difficult, unsurprisingly.
I'm begging the oilers to make a trade for a 1B goalie. Like begging. We're in the hunt now, and Campbell is still not the answer. Grier was in attendance last night.. take Blackwood all day.

With Campbell eating up so much cap space, the Oilers are also in a tricky situation trying to shore up other parts of their roster.
