The Edmonton Oilers have struggled to contend this season. A lot of their struggles have been attributed to poor goaltending. Today new reports have leaked their plans for the future.
Oilers Goaltending Creates A Serious Problem
The Edmonton Oilers have had an abysmal start to the NHL season with a record of 5-12-1. The play of Stuart Skinner
and Jack Campbell
has been the talk of Edmonton for much of the year. Campbell struggled so much he was sent to the AHL to try and find his game.
#Oilers roster moves
Goaltender Calvin Pickard
has been recalled from the @Condors.
Goaltender Jack Campbell
has cleared waivers & been assigned to Bakersfield.
With Campbell being sent to the AHL many expected the Oilers to go out on the trade market to bring in his replacement. However, the latest reports have suggested this will not be the case.
Oilers Ridiculous Plan To Solve Goaltending Problems
Today NHL insider Chris Johnston talked about the Oilers and their goaltending situation. He planted the idea that Jack Campbell
's time in an Oilers uniform might not be done as many expected.
One option to consider as well is Jack Campbell
who has been down in the AHL playing in Bakersfield coming off a shut-out, is a potential option to come back up and rejoin the Oilers, so maybe, at least initially here in the short-term, that's the kind of move they might make to try and spark a better outcome.
With how poorly Campbell has played this season in the NHL it is wild to think the Oilers are going to trust him to turn it around. After a couple of bad first starts in the AHL Campbell has gotten back on track in the last game or two.
If Campbell can continue to show a strong level of play in the next couple of AHL appearances a call-up could be earned. Potentially with some new found confidence Campbell could get back to the goaltender everyone expects him to be.As Read On - Blade Of Steel - Edmonton Oilers reportedly have an embarrassing plan to try and fix their goaltending
