It's hard to blame Minnesota Wild Gm Bill Guerin for being upset. After back-to-back 100 seasons, the Wild have been awful so far in 2023-24, and Guerin has had enough.

GM Bill Guerin Lets Wild Players and Staff Have it in Closed-door Meeting

According to The Athletic, Guerin held a closed door meeting with players and coaching staff before the team left for the NHL's Global Series in Sweden. He did not hold back.

"Was it a scream-fest? Bit of both. The one thing about Billy, when he talks, everyone respects the s— out of him. That guy talks, you're gonna really, really listen." - Marcus Foligno

"It was kind of a kick in the ass, figure our s— out kind of meeting. Something we definitely needed." - Ryan Hartman.

Guerin isn't shy about telling reporters how he feels.

"I'm not happy. I'm not happy with where we are."

"My biggest thing is our compete level. And look, guys work hard every night and they care. I know that. But it's a different type of compete and focus. I just don't think we've had it."

"It's everything from faceoffs and 50-50 puck battles to just pure execution, being in position, being in the right places to tape-to-tape passes. It all needs to be better."

Players and Staff Get an Earful from Wild GM Bill Guerin in Meeting

Unfortunately for Guerin, and the team, it didn't seem to work as Minnesota lost both games it played in Sweden. There's no indication that coach Bill Evason should be worried about his job. However, this can't go on forever. Someone will have to take the fall if this continues.
