BREAKING: Cup Champion Has Contract Terminated

A two-time Stanley Cup champion has had his contract terminated.

It was just announced that forward Gemel Smith has had his contract mutually terminated by Dynamo Minsk of the KHL.

Through 15 KHL games this year, Smith scored four goals and got five points.

Smith was a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning for their back-to-back cup runs but he did not get much playing time as he mainly served as a player who could be called up if there were injuries.

Last year he had 53 points in 54 AHL games. It is unknown what his next destination is but a return to North America could certainly be in the cards.
