The Ryan Reaves experiment in Toronto has not gone well so far this season and could be close to an end as the team scratched him from Saturday night's lineup versus Vancouver.

Now in his 14th season in the NHL, the man known as the «Grim Reaper,» signed a 3-year, $4 million contact in the offseason, but just 14 games in, there has been nothing to show for it.

On Saturday morning, Hockey Night in Canada's Elliotte Freidman reported that head coach Sheldon Keefe was making a change.

In his place, the Maple Leafs, who are 7-5-2 this season, recalled Bobby McMann from Toronto (AHL) on Saturday.

Minutes diminished considerably for Reaves

Reaves had been playing right wing on the fourth line but logged just 4:33 in Friday night's 5-4 overtime win against Calgary.

He finished Friday's game with a +/- of -2, pushing him to -11 on the season without either a goal or assist.

Reaves started last season going 12 games without a point before the Rangers traded him to Minnesota, where he would score five goals and add 10 assists over 61 minutes.

This season, the tough guy averaged just 7:32 of ice time per game and picked up 12 minutes in penalties.
