Tough news for Team Switzerland just days before the team is scheduled to travel to Canada to take part in the World Junior Hockey Championships. The team is reporting that three players have been sent home after positive tests for COVID-19.

Forwards Yves Stoffel, Jannik Canova and Kevin Lindemann have all been ordered into quarantine by team doctors and there is no longer any chance of them travelling with their team to Alberta on Sunday.

"We very much regret that despite a strict protection concept and great efforts to comply with the measures, it could not be prevented that players have to be sent home due to a positive test or quarantine order," says Lars Weibel, Director of the Swiss National Team. “This is a major setback for the players concerned. We wish them all the best and hope that they continue to develop no symptoms."

"Flexibility is essential in these times,” said head coach Marco Bayer. "We are making the best of this challenging situation and I am convinced that it will weld us together as a team and make us stronger."

Sweden has been hit hard by positive test for the Corona virus, with four players missing the tournament and the team scrambling to find coaching staff. Germany has also had three positive tests in the last few days.
