The NHL is a league of some of the most talented players in any sport in the world, but pure talent doesn't mean everything, so having a veteran voice in a locker room can sometimes be the difference between major success and disappointing failure.

A huge return

For the Buffalo Sabres, either of those outcomes are a possibility in 2023-24 with the youngest team in the league, but now, the team have made the brilliant hire of Craig Anderson in a new, exciting role.

After 21-years as a goaltender in the league, the final two of which came in Buffalo, the Sabres are bringing him in as a hockey liason to be a voice and a mentor for the players and the coaching staff in Buffalo.

It may not be the only factor deciding between a playoff run and another disappointing failure for the Sabres, but with Anderson around to mentor some incredibly talented young players, especially goaltender Devon Levi, this should be nothing but a positive for this team.
