Wayne Gretzky is widely regarded as the greatest hockey player of all time, and this date is a very special one for the Great One.

On November 22, 1986, Gretzky scored his 500th goal in his 575th career game to become the fastest to ever reach the milestone. His goal scoring capabilities are comparable to none and this stat just reflects it all that much more.

Then, 13 years later on November 22, 1999, Gretzky was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, which waived its mandatory 3-year waiting period just to show how much he meant to the game of hockey. This is the only instance of this happening due to the ridiculous stats he piled up over the course of his career.

The 59-year-old tallied an astounding 2857 points (894 goals, 1963 assists) during his 20-year NHL career, which is something that will likely never be achieved by another player. The only player that looks like they could come close to breaking one of his records is Alexander Ovechkin, who currently has 706 goals and doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
