HC Davos of the Swiss National League, the team Joe Thornton has been playing for and training with for the last few weeks, has suspended play after five team members tested positive for COVID-19. There is no word on whether Thornton is among the positive cases.

HC Davos has postponed playing until at least November 27th. That could be extended depending on the situation. The entire team has gone into quarantine for the time being.

Thornton had been off to a hot start with Davos, recording two goals and seven points in six games.

Thornton, 41, signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs last month as a free agent after spending the last 15 years with the San Jose Sharks. Thornton played for HC Davos during the 2004 lockout and met Tabea Pfendsack, his current wife, there. He's been spending offseasons in the country ever since.
