Hoffman among several free agents still unsigned

It has been 43 days since free agency opened on October 9th, and there are plenty of impact players left on the board. The unknown start date for the 2020-21 NHL season is partly the reason why so many players have been holding off on signing a contract. Another big reason has to do with the flat salary cap, with 18 teams only having $3 million or less in cap space, and 9 of those 18 teams have spent over the cap, meaning they will have to get cap compliant before the regular season begins.
