Fans are not happy after the Edmonton Oilers announced their most recent cuts from the roster.

Oilers Place Lavoie and Pederson on Waivers Today

The Oilers announced today that Raphael Lavoie and Lane Pederson, as well as defenseman Ben Gleason, have been placed on waivers. Fans were shocked to see the prospects not make the team, and are convinced that Lavoie will be claimed off waivers.

This is major gamble by Edm putting Lavoie on waivers. Montreal or team like SJ could claim him. They obviously felt he wasn't suited to fourth line with no PK or PP time and Erne when signed can be fourth liner

Lavoie and Pederson are Crucial Prospects for the Oilers

Fans have a right to be upset, as Lavoie was a star last year in the AHL, scoring 25 goals and 20 assists in 61 games played. Pederson was also a standout in the AHL last year, scoring 17 goals in 18 games played.

The Oilers are now at risk of having both prospects claimed.
