The Anaheim Ducks summer has been a wild ride thus far, as they've locked down a key piece of their future while adding some elite talent in the draft, but it's the ongoing
Trevor Zegras storyline that has stolen headlines.
A bride deal
After weeks of speculation, the Ducks put an end to that by signing Zegras to a three-year extension worth $5.75 million per season, but did that really alleviate all the questions?
It may have for some, but given the style of player Pat Verbeek wants to build this Ducks team around, the question marks will persist, and now, an NHL Insider has dropped a major prediction.
Blockbuster trade incoming?
According to Nick Kypreos on a recent Sportsnet panel, the Ducks have now backed themselves into a corner, and it could result in a major trade to send Zegras out of Anaheim.
If he excels in the first year of his deal, Verbeek may be forced to give him a massive deal, but if he doesn't, he'll likely be forced to make a trade, but either way, it appears Zegras' future may very well be decided by the time the 2023-24 season comes to a close.
