Mike Babcock has been making NHL headlines for the past few weeks, as his antics cost him another job at the top level, and now, one major superstar has reacted to the news.
A familiar face
The last time we saw Babcock behind a bench in the NHL, it was with the Toronto Maple Leafs before he was dismissed over reports of poor player treatment, with many of those same names still in Toronto.
One major player that suffered during that time was
Mitch Marner, who was the center of one controversy with Babcock when he was asked to rank the work ethic of several teammates, before the results of his question were made public.
Given how he was mistreated, no one could blame the likes of Marner for not being too upset about another firing, but when he was asked about it, No. 16 kept it professional.
I don't really want to comment on that too much. Whatever happened, happened...He's not with our team anymore. My focus is not on any other team or any other person.
Marner, along with the rest of this Maple Leafs team are clearly focused on the biggest goal possible under Sheldon Keefe, and while it was a good chance for Marner to take a big shot, he took the high road, a major sign of professionalism for a key leader on this Leafs team.
