The Winnipeg Jets were once seen as a major Stanley Cup contender in the Western Conference, but unfortunately, they were just one or two pieces away from taking the final leap.
So close yet so far
In 2018, the team played in the Western Conference Finals, and were ultimately defeated by the Stanley Cup Champions a year later, and it's safe to say that the team were disappointed to not take the final step.
Their roster had a deep offensive group and fantastic goaltending, but there was just something missing from this team, and now, it's been revealed that they missed out on trading for a big time star.
A hometown hero
Even with a forward group of
Mark Scheifele, Nik Ehlers,
Blake Wheeler,
Kyle Connor and others, it's now been revealed that the team had a chance to land hometown hero
Mark Stone, and all they had to do was give up prospect
Jack Roslovic.
Obviously it's easy to look back on it and question why they didn't make the move, but with Stone, they would have been a threat to anyone in the West, so it's tough for Jets fans to look back on such a missed opportunity.
