The St. Louis Blues may be in the market to help their defensive core and may re-visit acquiring a defenseman.

Blues Wanting to Bolster Defense?

According a forum going around the internet right now the St. Louis Blues are looking to make their team better via trade.

Blues Shopping for a D-man Krug's injury is not a great one for the BluesRumor is they are now shopping hard for a top[ 4 D, and could reach out to the Flyers again regarding Sanheim

The Blues current projected defensive core looks something like this:

Nick Leddy - Colton Parayko
Krug - Faulk
Scandella - Bortuzzo

The third pair of this team is where they need help for sure, as Bortuzzo and Scandella would be better suited as your 7th defenseman but both crack the top 6 of this Blues team.

The Blues were rumored to be trading for Sanheim, a trade that saw Torey Krug go back the other way however the trade was stopped.

Sanheim's Fit

Travis Sanheim has been a steady 20-30 point defenseman for the Philadelphia Flyers for the past 6 seasons, however like the rest of the roster it might be time to find a new home for the 27-year-old player.

New GM Daniele Briere has been able to work his magic to get the trades he wants.

The Blues really struggled defensively last season finishing tied for worst in the division for goals against. With lack of consistency in net from Jordan Binnington and a defensive core that has proven to be too offensive, you can see the argument to go and acquire a player like Sanheim.

Travis Sanheim does have a contract that pays him an annual cap hit of $6.25 million until the 2030-31 NHL season, he has a full no trade clause for the first 4 seasons of the deal after that it turns into a modified no trade clause.

This makes a trade to St. Louis that much harder for both parties to complete.
