Earlier this offseason, Patrice Bergeron announced his retirement.
He was still playing at an elite rate and could have kept an NHL role if he truly felt up to it but he has stated that it is his time to retire.
While Bruins fans may be sad to see one of their greats go, it is truly in his best interest.

Recently, Bergeron spoke about his intentions for retirement.
Spending time with his family and raising his kids will be a big factor in Bergeron's life from here on out. While it is unknown if Bergeron will ever join the Bruins as a member of the front office or coaching staff, Bergeron will definitely always have that door open in Boston if he ever decides to go that route.
