2019 8th overall pick Philip Broberg has found himself on the trade block after failing to become an NHL regular.
Broberg Likely To Be Moved
The Edmonton Oilers are in an interesting place. They have a loaded roster that is looking more and more ready to make a cup run but they have yet to find that one missing piece.
Many thought Mattias Ekholm would be that piece and while he helped a lot last year, the Oilers still fell short. With ever-depleting futures, it is looking more and more likely that the Oilers may be moving on from 2019 8th overall pick Philip Broberg.
Oilers writer Allan Mitchell of The Athletic writes the following:
"Broberg's size, speed and wingspan give him a terrific advantage over defencemen who lack those skills. A team less focused on the season ahead and more focused on the future would find Broberg an attractive candidate for a trade." - Allan Mitchell

What Edmonton Could Get

Edmonton has a very solid lineup going into the new season. They only have a few glaring flaws. The two main ones are a 4th top 4 defenseman and a final top-six winger.
While Broberg cannot fetch either of these assets alone, if he is packaged with some picks and other assets, he could be a key part of a big trade package.
The Oilers are in a win-now mode and since Broberg cannot provide much in the present, we could expect to see Broberg moved out for some current talent.

Will Broberg be gone by next year?
