A 2011 lottery pick has officially retired from hockey after struggling with his health.
Baertschi Retires
A few weeks ago, it was reported that Sven Baertschi would be retiring. Today, the NHL Alumni Association made it official.
Sven Baertschi has officially announced his retirement from the
@NHL.
Sven was drafted 13th overall to the @NHLFlames in 2011. Since then, he's played in 292 regular-season games for the Flames, the @Canucks, and @GoldenKnights, and scored 138 points as a left winger.
Known in Calgary as «The Swiss Can't-Miss», Baertschi made his mark when he scored his first goal in a 4-3 victory over Minnesota just two days after his NHL debut.

Baertschi has struggled with injuries over the past couple of seasons registering only 81 games over the past two years.
His most successful season came with the Canucks in 2017-18 where he scored 18 goals and 35 points in 68 games.
We wish him the best in his post-playing career and applaud an amazing NHL career.
