Elias Pettersson On The Verge Of Leaving Vancouver? A Top Analyst Has Made a Major Claim and Fans are Freaking Out

The Vancouver Canucks have been trying to find the formula to get back to consistent playoff appearances for almost a decade now. They have made the playoffs just once since the 2015-16 season. Now there are reports that their best player could potentially be on his way out.

Elias Pettersson the Canucks 24-year-old superstar has been at the center of trade rumors in recent weeks. These rumors come on the heels of Pettersson having an interview with Sportsnet Insider Elliotte Friedman.

Pettersson is heading into the last year of a 3-year deal with an AAV of $7.35M. While these comments do not suggest Pettersson is set on leaving Vancouver he does sound comfortable waiting until the last moment to make a decision. Another factor to keep in mind is that Pettersson will be an RFA when his contract ends.

If Elias Pettersson does become available either via trade or free agency one team to keep an eye on is the Boston Bruins. The Bruins recently lost both of their top two centers and are looking to replace them to keep their Stanley Cup window open.

Of the potential options for the Bruins to add this summer, Pettersson is likely the most appetizing. The other big center options for this upcoming summer will likely be Mark Scheifele and Elias Lindholm. Both will likely command similar contracts to Pettersson but are significantly older.

If the Bruins can stomach the loss of draft picks or potential prospects Pettersson would be the perfect addition to their group.
