The Flyers and Senators could be the perfect trade partners.

Philadelphia's Situation

The Philadelphia Flyers are at a very rough patch in their history. They fired former GM Chuck Fletcher and brought in former Flyer Daniel Briere as their new GM.

Since bringing Briere on, their vision is quite clear: hard rebuild. They started out by trading away Ivan Provorov and Kevin Hayes who were both key members of their squad last year. They also selected top prospect Matvei Michkov 7th overall and he is at least three years away from making the NHL due to his KHL contract.

They will likely be missing the playoffs for the next couple of years and will be getting many top picks in the near future.

Ottawa's Situation

Ottawa is on the opposite side of the rebuild cycle. They have nearly completed their rebuild and will be looking to make the playoffs next year.

Their core consists of young stars like Tim Stutzle, Brady Tkachuk, Jake Sanderson, and Josh Norris who all have very bright futures in Ottawa.

They traded away Alex DeBrincat this past offseason after trading for him just a year prior but the experiment failed and he was shipped home to Detroit.

The Potential Trade

With the franchises heading in opposite directions, fans have speculated on a potential trade that would send top Flyers forward Travis Konecny to Ottawa.

Konecny scored 31 goals and 61 points in 60 games last season being far and away their top player.

He plays a very physical style of game despite his size and has ties to Ottawa formerly being the captain of the OHL's Ottawa 67s.

Konecny would fit perfectly in Ottawa as his goal-scoring ability could perfectly compliment Tim Stutzle's playmaking and he would be a very nice physical winger to pair with Brady Tkachuk.

A trade would cost Ottawa an arm and a leg but if they feel as if Konecny is the piece that they are missing, they will certainly cough up what is required.

As seen on Flyers Insider - Are the Senators and Flyers potential trading partners?
