A young Russian winger has decided to leave the NHL for hopes of a career rejuvenation in his home nation.
Gurianov leaves NHL
Denis Gurianov was the 12th overall pick in 2015. He had high hopes for his NHL career possessing elite tools such as his speed and shot. However, 8 years later, he has yet to fully stick and will be leaving the NHL entirely in favor of Russia.
According to VK.com, Gurianov will be leaving the NHL and will be signing with CSKA Moscow in the KHL.
"CSKA is negotiating with Denis Gurianov to sign a contract."
Moscow has produced some top tier NHL talent including Nikita Kucherov, Andrei Kuzmenko, and Kirill Kaprizov.
Gurianov will look to bounce back in Russia and will hopefully develop into a player who could sign in the NHL and unlock his true potential. He peaked in the NHL when he scored 30 points in 55 games in 2021 for the Dallas Stars.
His NHL career has been spent only with the Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens.
