The Montreal Canadiens have brokered a trade with the Colorado Avalanche that sends a former top prospect to Montreal in exchange for high picks.

The Colorado Avalanche have sent the 2019 16th overall pick to Montreal in exchange for the 31st and 37th picks along with a prospect.

This is a project deal that will see the Canadiens try to develop Newhook into the star he is capable of becoming. Newhook has yet to fully break out but he is only 22. If the Canadiens can do what they did with Kirby Dach last year, this could be a steal of a trade.
Only time will tell who wins this trade but it looks to be pretty even right off of the bat.
