The New York Rangers have made it official. The next head coach of the team is Peter Laviolette.
-
The Rangers fired coach Gerard Gallant following the team's first round exit from the playoffs. There was talk of a heated disagreement between him and President and GM Chris Drury.
Extensive Experience
Laviolette brings a wealth of experience to the Rangers, having previously served as head coach with the New York Islanders, Carolina Hurricanes, Nashville Predators, Philadelphia Flyers, and Washington Capitals. His only Stanley Cup came in 2006 with the Canes. He brought both the Flyers and Predators to the finals.
Laviolette's last head coaching gig, which was with the Caps, ended when the team failed to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2013-14 season.

Is Laviolette the right choice for the Rangers?
