Kyle Davidson, the General Manager of the Chicago Blackhawks, deliberately tanked this season and emerged victorious in the
Connor Bedard sweepstakes in the NHL draft lottery. Having traded away most of his talent for picks and prospects, the question now arises - who will Davidson bring in to play alongside this teenage superstar?
Who's Playing With Bedard?
This was a topic of discussion on the 32 Thoughts podcast, where Hockey Insider Elliotte Friedman discussed it with Jeff Marek. He revealed that the Blackhawks have their sights set on
Ivan Barbashev, the Golden Knights' pending RFA.
Blackhawks Want Barbashev
On the 32 Thoughts podcast, Friedman said,
"Someone suggested to me that if they were Chicago, they would go after Barbashev to play with Bedard. They argued that Bedard is going to need a player like that.»
Barbashev Is Having A Sweet Playoff Run!
Barbashev seems an excellent choice. At 27, he is currently having an impressive playoff run in Vegas, with 6 goals and 11 assists in 19 games. He was the St. Louis Blues' 2nd round pick, 33rd overall, back in 2014 and went on to win a Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019. With such experience and skill, Barbashev indeed seems equipped to play alongside Bedard.
