Joel Quenneville has a shady history in the NHL and because of this, has been blacklisted from the league and looks to make a return
Quenneville Looks To Return
There is no doubt that Joel Quenneville is an NHL-caliber coach but there is a lot of doubt on Quenneville being an NHL-caliber character. Quenneville was the head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-2018 winning three cups in his time with the team.
However, those cups are tainted by the scandal where a coach, Brad Aldrich, sexually assaulted Kyle Beach. Beach told others about the incident and it was ignored resulting in a very shady sequence of events and cover-ups.
Because of this, Quenneville has been blacklisted from the NHL but that will not stop him from trying to get back in.
Quenneville will meet with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman at the end of the season to discuss the possibility of him coming back.
At the moment, the NHL still thinks Quenneville needs to grow more as a person and will not be re-instating him any time soon.
This is the right decision to make because Quenneville prioritized winning over all else resulting in somebody being hurt and scarred for life. There are some things that are unforgivable and Quenneville's actions are one of those and the league is making the right decision by not reinstating him.
