If things go the way Carson Briere wants, he will continue playing college hockey at a school other than Mercyhurst University. The odds of that happening seem astronomical at the moment.
GoErie.com, is reporting that Briere has officially entered his name into the NCAA Division 1 transfer portal in the hopes of finding a new school to go to, and a new hockey team to play for. The report states that Briere entered his name just a couple of days after he was removed by Mercyhurst University men's hockey team. He was given the boot after a video surfaced online of him pushing a wheelchair down a flight of stairs at a party near the school. The chair, which was empty at the time, belonged to an amputee who was also attending the party and not using it at the time.

Briere, who is the son of former NHLer and current Philadelphia Flyers GM Danny Briere, has been criminally charged with three misdemeanors: criminal mischief, criminal conspiracy to commit mischief, and disorderly conduct. Nothing legally stops him from searching for a new hockey team at another college, but it seems like a massive longshot. Besides being removed from the Mercyhurst team, in 2019 Briere was kicked off of Arizona State's men's hockey team before ever getting a chance to play for them. The school would only say it was because of a violation of rules. Second chances can be earned. Third chances are extremely rare.
