When Texas Stars player Matej Blumel's head hit the ice, it was clear it was a serious situation immediately. Players from both teams stopped right away and trainers rushed to the ice. According to reports Blumel remained down and motionless on the ice.

On the play Blumel was on the receiving end of a hit from Sharks Ozzy Wiesblatt. The hit which was deemed clean sent Blumel's head and neck crashing into the lower dasher board.

The hit occurred less than 3 minutes into the first period of the game. Blumel was transported right off the ice and into an awaiting ambulance. Reports state that the EMT in attendance to the game left with the Stars prospect.

The game is delayed, reportedly as they waited for a new EMT to report to the game. Information is serviced that on his way to the hospital Blumel was alert and awake. By all accounts. It sounds like he should make a full recovery. This was a scary situation done nonetheless.
