Jonathan Huberdeau has made a statement after his agent Allan Walsh issued a tweet criticizing the Calgary Flames and their head coach Darryl Sutter. While he doesn't come right out and say it, it seems Huberdeau wasn't overly pleased with his agent.
"I woke up this morning and saw that tweet," Huberdeau told reporters Friday. "It doesn't come from me. It's my agent, but it's from him. It doesn't reflect on me or the guys. We all love each other We are having fun."
Walsh's tweet seemed to be directed at Sutter and his performance with the team as of late.
"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Also, negativity sucks the joy right out of players. cc:
@NHLFlames," tweeted Walsh.
Huberdeau was quick to point out that he and Sutter are on good terms.
"Darryl is Darryl. Sometimes you like what the coach does. Some nights you don't like it," Huberdeau explained. "You're never 100 percent happy with the coach's decision, but me and Darryl have a great connection, great friendship."
He was then asked straight up if he preferred his agent had not issued any kind of statement.
"Yeah...I wouldn't be here right now talking to you guys," he replied.
Huberdeau was dealt to Calgary in the Matthew Tkachuk trade in July of 2022. In August, he signed the largest contract in Flames history, 8 years for $84 million. He is currently on pace for his worst season since 2016-17, when he missed 50 games due to injury.
Walsh is well-known for saying whatever he pleases when his clients are involved. It's not really clear whether his clients are always fine with his action. He is, by far, the most outspoken agent in the world of hockey today.

Should Walsh be making public statements like this regarding his clients?
