After Xavier Ouellet and Anthony Bitetto both told the media yesterday they had tested positive for COVID-19, yet another player came forward saying he had tested positive as well, this being Montreal Canadiens defenceman Brett Kulak.

While Ouellet and Bitetto said they had little to no symptoms, that wasn't the case for Kulak, who told reporters he experienced headaches, lack of energy and breathing issues. However, the 26-year-old is feeling back to normal now.

“You just don't know how it will affect you and how symptoms can kind of develop and increase,” said Kulak. “Some guys shake it off in a day or two and sometimes it lingers on and it can get obviously really severe. So I had a little bit of fear of that but just as the days went on, I didn't find too much progression. I think my first couple days were the worst. I was waking up, I had just pressure in my head, a little kind of dull headache all day. I had my first negative test, so I was trying to do some exercise in my hotel room and bodyweight stuff, and I could tell I just didn't have the energy for it that I should have for the difficulty of stuff I was doing. And it was affecting my breathing a little bit, so I was pretty certain I had it. When the test came positive, it wasn't too much of a surprise to me.”

Yesterday was the first day he joined his teammates skating at the teams training camp, as they get ready to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in a best of five, play-in series, which is set to begin in just over a week.

Kulak appeared in 56 games for the Canadiens this season, putting up seven assists. In 214 career NHL games, the Edmonton Alberta native has posted eight goals and 35 points.
