Philadelphia Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher announced on Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms with forward Oskar Lindblom on a three-year contract extension that will pay him $3 million annually.

Lindblom, 23, has had a crazy last several months. Back in mid-December, he was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, and was just declared cancer free a few weeks ago. Prior to being diagnosed, he had a team leading 11 goals, along with seven assists, in 30 games.

“I am very excited to be a part of the Flyers for the next three seasons,” Lindblom said. “The support that the organization, the fans, and the entire NHL has given me has been quite overwhelming. I can't wait to get back skating with the boys and being the professional hockey player I know I can be. I want to thank the Flyers for giving me this opportunity and I look forward to the day I'm back and contributing to the team's success.”

As a result of what Lindblom went through earlier this season, he was recently announced as a finalist for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, which is given to the player who best embodies perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to the game of hockey.
