The Chicago Blackhawks are hopeful that longtime starting goaltender Corey Crawford will be able to travel with the team to Edmonton for the upcoming playoffs. To this point, he has been deemed unfit to skate with the team during their training camp.

General manager Stan Bowman told media that Crawford travelling with the team to Edmonton is “something we're shooting for.” He also added that they “don't have any definitive comment,” on the situation regarding their goaltender. The 35-year-old has had a rough go with injuries over the past few seasons, limiting him to just 107 games over the past three seasons. In 40 games this season, he put up a 2.77 goals against average along with a .917 save percentage.

The Blackhawks are preparing to soon take on the Edmonton Oilers in a five-game play-in series that will begin in early August. They were one of the teams who benefitted from the NHL's decision to include 24 teams rather than 16 in this year's playoffs, as they were well outside of a spot prior to the stoppage in play. While their chances against the Oilers already appear slim, it becomes even smaller without Crawford.
