Hyman good to go after injury scare
The Toronto Maple Leafs forward returned to the ice today after having to take a few days off due to blocking a shot.
“It feels great to be back, felt like it was longer than a couple of days mentally. Took a shot there [on Friday] so it was just precautionary, but I'm feeling good.”
It is great news for the Leafs that Hyman didn't suffer anything serious. The 28-year-old plays the hardnosed, gritty style of play they need in order to make some noise in the playoffs after struggling the last few postseasons. Hyman was having a career season prior to the NHL stoppage, as he tied his career high in goals with 21, and had 37 points, which was just four shy of his career high 41 set during the 2018-19 season. The 21 goals and 37 points came this year despite only appearing in 51 games.
This season marked Hyman's fourth as a full-time NHL player. He has spent his entire 302-game career with the Leafs, posting 71 goals and 152 points in that span. Despite not being the most talented player, his ability to play hard on the forecheck and win puck battles all over the ice makes him a very versatile player who can play up and down the lineup. Him and his teammates will soon begin their five-game play-in series versus the Columbus Blue Jackets.
